Mark 3:29“but he who blasphemes (present tense) against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness but is subject to eternal condemnation “It does not state that the one who “blasphemed” (past tense) the Spirit never has forgiveness.  

At one time, we all blasphemed the Spirit because we all hated the Word of God...until we came into the faith and started growing to love the Word of God. Do you see the difference?

This diagnostic test cuts straight through the religious fear surrounding the "unpardonable sin." It shines a light on the grammatical and spiritual truth of the present tense: the only sin that cannot be forgiven is the one a person is actively, currently, and habitually refusing to repent of. It draws the line between a past life of ignorance and a present life of defiance.

Instructions: Look directly into the mirror of your current, everyday lifestyle. Answer these 4 simple questions to determine if you are walking in the life-giving flow of the Holy Spirit or actively hardening yourself in eternal condemnation.

Question 1: The Tense of Your Walk

In Mark 3:29, the Master uses the present active tense for blasphemy—meaning a continuous, ongoing action. Knowing that we all once walked in ignorance and hated the Word before coming into the faith, what is the current state of your heart toward God's instructions?

• A) Active Repentance & Love. You used to live without regard for the Torah, but today you love the Word of God. You have a driving desire to practice His commandments, proving that the Holy Spirit is actively moving your heart to go after His ways.

• B) Ongoing, Careless Defiance. You are currently and actively engaged in disobeying the Word of God habitually, without care, concern, or desire to change. You use religious phrases to cover a lifestyle that continuously rejects His commands.

Question 2: The Hostility of the Flesh

In Romans 8:7, Paul states: "For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will." When you are confronted with a clear law of God (like His Seventh-Day Sabbath or His dietary boundaries), how does your mind react?

• A) Controlled by the Spirit. Your mind submits to the Law. Even if it requires sacrificing your comfort, your job, or your family traditions, you choose to think about and do the things that please the Spirit.

• B) Dominated by the Sinful Nature. Your mind instantly rationalizes, makes excuses, or fights back against the command. You prove the flesh's hostility by insisting that God's laws do not apply to you.

Question 3: Knowing Good and Choosing Otherwise

James warns in James 4:17: "Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin." Once the true knowledge of the Torah has been shown to you, what do you do with that accountability?

• A) Immediate Alignment. You realize that God will allow you to sin, but a day of reckoning is coming. You act immediately on the light you have been given, knowing you will reap exactly what you sow.

• B) Calculated Compromise. You see the truth clearly in scripture, but you choose to follow the crowd and the traditions of men anyway, willfully delaying obedience because the social or physical cost is too high.

Question 4: The Mark of Belonging

In John 8:47, Yeshua states: "The one who belongs listens and responds to Yehovah's words. If you don't listen and respond, it is because you don't belong to Yehovah." How do you handle the actual words of the Father?

• A) You Listen and Respond. Hearing the Word results in physical movement. You adjust your life, clean up your home, change your calendar, and walk just as the Messiah taught and practiced.

• B) You Turn Away. You have tasted the goodness of the Word, but like the warning in Hebrews 6:4–6, you choose to turn back to a lawless lifestyle, effectively nailing the Son to the cross again by treating His instructions with public shame.

The Sovereign Verdict: Examine your checked boxes with absolute sobriety. The enemy loves to terrorize believers into thinking a past mistake has cut them off from grace forever. But the scripture is clear: if you love the Torah and desire to practice it today, you are not blaspheming the Spirit—because it is the Spirit alone that creates that desire within you.

However, if your choices land on B, you are playing a terrifying game with the living God. To know the truth, to have tasted His goodness, and to choose continuous, present-tense defiance is to trample underfoot the only covenant that can save you. The Father will let you walk the broad road if you choose it, but do not fool yourself: the sieve is sifting, the harvest is coming, and a person will reap exactly what they are currently sowing. Turn back and obey while it is still called today.

It is the one who is actively and currently engaged in disobeying the Word of God, habitually, without care or concern, without love for the Word, that does not have forgiveness. Thus, if you love the Word of God, and have a desire to practice the Word of God, then you are not blaspheming or despising the Spirit of God...because it is the Spirit of God that is the desire in our heart to go after His Torah.

 

There is a difference between currently being unrepentant and blaspheming the Spirit or hating the Word of God....that person never has forgiveness....and then the person that blasphemed the Spirit and repented, and loves to walk in His Torah just as our Messiah taught and practiced...it is he that has forgiveness.

 

Make no mistake, God will allow you to defy and disobey Him. He will allow you to follow the crowd and the traditions of men. He will allow you to sin. But He also says there is a day of reckoning coming. As you sow, so shall you reap! “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.” James 4:17

 

 

4 For it is impossible to bring back to repentance those who were once enlightened—those who have experienced the good things of heaven and shared in the Holy Spirit,

 

5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the power of the age to come— 6 and who then turn away from God. It is impossible to bring such people back to repentance; by rejecting the Son of God, they themselves are nailing him to the cross once again and holding him up to public shame Hebrew 6:4

 

5 Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. 6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. 7 For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. 8 That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.
